Reflections on Matthew Shepard

After twenty long years, Matthew Shepard’s parents were finally able to see him interred in a place of honor in the Washington National Cathedral.


It’s hard to imagine just what his family has gone through. Imagine experiencing not only the death of a child, but one that was the result of a brutal attack that left him beaten and suffering. And next imagine that due to the potential of anti-gay violence at his funeral that you, his parent, had to wear a bulletproof vest to his funeral service.
